I want the whole world to be a single country, with a single government. Our attempts to tackle problems including war, poverty and environmental destruction are held back by competition between nation states.
I don't expect this to happen in my lifetime, but I'll be happy if I live to see the European Union and the African Union each become a single country. These will be major steps in the right direction.
I'll be voting for the UK to stay in the European Union.
I haven't found a political party in the UK that supports the idea of the EU becoming a single country (what Churchill called the United States of Europe). I suspect that some politicians want this, but they fear losing votes by espousing this ideal aloud. I'm not a politician and I have no votes to win, so I can campaign for it without fear.
